The sports nutrition and supplementation industry has reached a stage of development that was unimaginable just a few years ago. Thanks to the enormous growth in demand, companies are making more and more profit and investing more and more in research and development of innovations. As a result, the sector is highly professionalised, resulting in targeted supplements. Fat-burning products are one of the clearest examples of this.
The very existence of this type of supplement, now accessible to virtually anyone, is an indicator of the level of specialisation in the market; but it doesn't stop there, as you can now choose from several variants within this category. In other words, nowadays it is not only possible to take a dietary supplement that is specifically dedicated to reducing your body fat, but there are different ways of doing so.
What is the best fat burner?
In the introduction we talked about how, looking back, it is surprising to see that in a relatively short time supplements have gone from being something exclusively reserved for sports professionals, to having effective fat burning pills of various types available to almost anyone.
Mentioning this variety of available products inevitably raises the question of which one is better than the others. To answer this question and, by the way, to explain how this type of supplement works, we are going to talk about the three most common types of fat burners .
The first are called thermogenics, and their method of action is very simple to understand. These products create a need in the body to increase body heat, with the aim of setting in motion a process by which accumulated fat is transported towards the mitochondria, where it will be "burned" to extract energy that is converted into heat and satisfy this need. Green tea, caffeine or guarana are thermogenic ingredients.
Lipotropics are quite similar in their line of action, but differ in the factor of increased basal temperature. These types of fat-burning products mobilise fats in the same way , using them to extract energy and thus preventing their accumulation. The most common compounds are conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and L-carnitine.
Thirdly, there are fat sequestrants, which work quite differently from the other two types of supplements. In this case, instead of drawing on fatty acid reserves already present in the body, they intervene in the digestion process, blocking the absorption of fats in the intestine. The result is that some of the fat ingested is eliminated directly, preventing it from having a negative effect.
How to take fat burners?
The existence of various alternatives when it comes to supplementing your diet with effective fat burning pills means that it is not possible to speak of a single method of taking this product.
